When choosing a surgeon, he or she should have basic (core) accredited surgical training with special training in body contouring. Your surgeon should have advanced surgical skills to perform any type of procedure involving the removal of large amounts of fat (more than five liters).
Consultation
A consultation is the key element when deciding what surgeon to go with.
He or she should explain the procedure in detail, answer any and all questions
you may have, discuss prices including any extra added on fees such as
medications, garments, ect.
Your surgeon should give you a realistic picture of what your outcome will be and discuss what is involved in the post care after surgery. If you do not receive this type of attention during a consultation this is a good hint that it is time to change doctors.
Looking at "before and after" surgery pictures can be a good way to see what is involved should you decide to have liposuction. This is a good chance for you to see what a body looks like right after surgery. Too often people who have cosmetic surgery are shocked with their appearance after surgery expecting immediate results.
Even though the newer techniques reduce some post-operative discomforts, it takes time for any swelling and bruising to disappear before you will have the shape you desire. Once some time has passed and your body has healed you will be able to enjoy your new look!
