Liposuction
FAQ's
Why do liposuction
costs vary so significantly from one surgeon to another?
The costs for the methods of liposuction may be more or less the same
however there are fees that may vary, such as operating and recovery room
charges, medications, anaesthesia costs and consultation fees.
Can
liposuction be covered under my insurance?
In most cases liposuction is considered an "elective surgery"
that most insurance companies do not cover however in some cases when
a person's ability to function in his or her daily activities is limited
because of a certain condition they may qualify for some insurance coverage.
How much fat can
be removed by liposuction?
The earliest liposuction methods were limited to removing about one liter
(2.2 lbs) of fat safely. Today experts believe that a liposuction session
should not exceed five liters.
Can the fat that
is removed reappear elsewhere on the body?
New fat cells do not appear. Weight is added on when existing fat cells
grow. Although liposuction does not protect you against generalized weight
gain, the area that is suctioned should always remain proportionately
smaller.
How do I choose
the right surgeon for me?
People who are interested in having liposuction should take the time to
research both the surgical procedures and the plastic surgeon. You need
to make sure your surgeon has the proper credentials. After having a consultation
session, you should feel like you are in good hands. He or she should
be willing to spend as much time as needed to answer your questions to
your satisfaction.
