Acknowledging Liposuction Costs

Liposuction Techniques

The method of liposuction for the removal of unwanted fat has become more popular than ever before. New methods have been developed and refined in the last decade while several variations have been introduced.

Liposuction costs are dependent upon the method or technique you decide to use. Some advances made in the field of liposuction in the last few decades have made it more expensive while other treatments are now cheaper than the traditional method.

Low liposuction costs can give you the body of your dreams.Fluid Injection techniques
Fluid Injection is a technique in which a medicated solution is injected into fatty areas before the fat is removed. This method is commonly used by plastic surgeons today. The fluid is composed of a mixture of intravenous salt solution, lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a drug that contracts blood vessels). It helps in the following areas:

  • Helps the fat be removed more easily
  • Reduces blood loss
  • Provides anaesthesia during and after surgery.
  • Helps to reduce the amount of bruising after surgery.

The method of fluid injection can be performed in various ways including tumescent liposuction, the super wet technique and ultrasound assisted methods. These techniques tend to be cheaper and very efficient.

Tumescent liposuction is the method of fluid injection liposuction that is usually performed on patients requiring only a local aesthetic. This procedure involves injecting large volumes of fluids into the fatty tissue. This procedure takes a few hours longer than the traditional type of liposuction.

The super-wet technique is similar to the tumescent technique, except that lesser amounts of fluid are used. Usually the amount of fluid injected is equal to the amount of fat to be removed. This technique often requires sedation or general anaesthesia and typically takes one to two hours of surgery time.

Liposuction TechniqueUltrasonic Liposuction technique
Ultrasonic liposuction is a treatment that can be a little more expensive than some other traditional methods. The cost is usually higher because this treatment requires the use of additional equipment.

Ultrasound-Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL) uses a special cannula that produces ultrasonic energy. The energy explodes the walls of the fat cells, liquefying the fat as it passes through the tissue. Fat is then removed by the traditional liposuction technique.

This method is usually used in more fibrous areas of the body, for example the upper back or enlarged male breasts. It is also used in secondary procedures, when enhanced precision is required. In general, UAL like the tumescent technique takes longer to perform than traditional liposuction.

Whether you are best suited for ultrasonic or for tumescent liposuction may depend on the quality of the tissue you want removed and should be discussed with a qualified surgeon who is experienced in liposuction
